Light festival in Barcelona

In february main festival in Barcelona Festa de Santa Eulalia co-patron saint, at the same time Llum BCN (light festival), with installations in public places as well as projections on the facades of the most emblematic buildings.

Since 7 years before, when the mapping was popular on facades, now the LLUM BCN festival is more ambitious and will spread throughout the Poblenou from the Agbar tower and Design Museum until de sea with 47 shows and 26 installations and spcetacles, 14 transfromed spaces. All this work has been carried out by professionals and students from various schools of art, design, lighting and architecture that will transform a part of the city with light during the next 3 days.

Barcelona has striking buildings facades, LLUM-BCN is a celebration of urban lighting of buildings and public spaces that are held between 10th til 12th February. The light festival invites you to visit these areas at night to discover the architectural majesty of barcelona.

La Mercè festival

The festival of La Mercè patron of Barcelona is the most important event of the city and is celebrate it in a big way for 5 days from 22nd to 25th of September. With the good weather at that time most of the activities are outdoors. The squares become theater stages, with live music and many things to do with family.

What to see at Festas de la Mercè

Human Towers

 The castles “castellers” (in catalan) are human towers of several floors of height, and are integrated for a few people of different ages and sizes. The most corpulent people are in the bottom of the castle forming the solid base, then the people go up one on top of the other forming a tower. These human towers are part of the show at the festivities of La Mercé.

Demons & Carrefocs

The correfocs (in catalan) are person disguised as demons that goes through the streets, dancing between fireworks and firecrackers. It’s a very popular tradition in Catalonia and for these festivities there are many devils loose …

Pyromusical at Plaça Espanya

The full stop of this event is a pyromusical, approximately an hour show in a spectacular setting, with the magic fountain on the background at the foot of Montjuic in Plaza España.
